What We See vs. Reality - Idol Relationships and Who Your Idol Really Is

With the recent news of Hyoyeon's alleged 'bullying' from her members, which is more than likely false, I have decided that it'd be a good idea to clear up a few things regarding the subject of your idols relationships.
PS, I fucking hate you

Now don't get me wrong, good idol relationships can really exist, but they just simply might not be as good as they try to make the public believe.

The same thing goes with how your idols act. The way that you see your favorite idol on TV can be the total opposite of how they act in real life, unless you just don't give a fuck anymore and your name is Krystal or Sulli, because everyone thinks they're bitches.

However, the thing you have to remember most is that your idol is only human. And humans make mistakes. Every once in a while, your idol's 'true' personality may end up slipping out, and this leads to shit-tons of scandals.

And that's what I also wanted to address in this post, scandals. Though fun to look at and laugh at how stupid a majority, if not all, of them tend to be, they're also stupid and proof and news reporters will go out and eat up whatever they see and create stories out of it.

If two idols of opposite genders, or sometimes even of the same gender, happen to have an item in common, such as 'couple jewelry' or they lend each other clothes, etc, there's automatically an article covering the subject. Some reporters even get desperate enough to use Photoshopped images to try and create hype/bring attention to their sites.

Now these scandals don't really reveal anything about your idol other than the sheer fact that they fuck up/make mistakes as well or what they like in a guy. I guess we can all take a guess at what Tiffany likes...

Other than that, the possibility of knowing who your idol really is is a really slim chance. However, that doesn't mean that you can't still enjoy how your idol acts now, even if they're just being controlled by their companies and forced to act all cute and "Oppa saranghae" on camera. Even if they're secretly planning their manager's death, they're still cute, right?

Another topic that I have to cover is the idea of idol relationships, and by relationships I don't mean dating, since that's already been covered, but the idea of your idol groups being best friends for life.

As I stated above, it's not like this is completely impossible, the the chance of it happening is also very slim. On stage, idols are basically forced into a mask that they must where whenever they're in public, and have no choice about it. Well, they do have a choice, but if they make that choice? Let's just say that's going to be the end of their days as an idol.

To appeal to many teenagers and fangirls, a lot of groups are forced to perform 'fanservice', which is pretty much when members of a same group act 'in love' in front of crowds in order to create hype and make people ship them. Why would they do this? Sales. Groups like SNSD wouldn't have been nearly as popular if they all outwardly hated each other/could care less, which is exactly why companies see fanservice as an easy way to make money.

Are you still not convinced about how good relationships equate to more money and that your favorite ship is not just an act? Take T-Ara for example. All K-Pop fans 'know' what happened to Hwayoung, the member that was 'bullied' by the others. Rumors like these led to bad press to T-Ara, creating many antis out of people who didn't care for the group before/ex-fans. Because of all this, T-Ara's popularity started to drop and at some points it seemed like they may have hit rock bottom with the lack of fans and huge gathering of antis.

And what does this all lead to? Less sales of their merchandise. Now, there are still people who chose to believe every scandal they hear, and in the K-Pop world, there seems to be a shit-ton of those people.

But if you have even a slice of sense left in you, which is highly unlikely if you've been listening to K-Pop for 5+ years, then you would know about this already. However, delulus will still delulu and even if the group itself comes out and says that they all hate each other. Instead, they'll find it endearing and think it's a way for them to joke around, even if they're being dead serious about it.
